Help! Need New Doctor Asap!

5 posts in this topic

My old sleep specialist "fired" me for missing too many appointments (three over two years) and now I need a new doctor before I run out of medicine! Anyone know a website that accurately lists doctors specializing in sleep disorders? Or better yet know of an actual doctor Cumberland, MD.

I would suggest a google search for the area. Unless you are on Xyrem, your primary care physician can give you a refill. It takes so long to get an appointment with a specialist. Maybe it would be better for you to go a more convenient route with a PCP since it is hard for you to keep your appointments. Your "old" one may be willing to call in an Rx for old time sake. Hope you find someone.

I wish I could but my PCP won't prescribe me medications anymore (loooong story) and I have to get them through a specialist... which is the problem. I'll post the whole story in a different thread so I don't clog this one up with stories.

I'm actually seeing a psychiatrist right now for my N treatment. I was referred by my sleep doctor because he said he wanted the psychiatrist to adjust the dosage based on the psychiatric side effects. I dunno if all psychs would be open to that, however. I'm actually no longer on stimulants, but when I was, he was the one prescribing them.

Thank you very much! My mom actually recommended that but I want sure they would either. After reading your post though, I'll certainly give it a try if it comes to that.
