First I was prescribed Nuvigil but my insurance company denied my coverage because they stated they said my meds do not match my diagnosis- idiopathic hypersomnia (they only cover it for Narcolepsy and sleep apnea). They stated they would only cover it Ritalin currently unless I have side effects and need to take something else. I started on Ritalin last week. One thing that I have noticed apart from being very chill, it seems to be doing what it is supposed to but I am a bit scatter brained when speaking and doing things. I can function which is fantastic because I have been in such a different world however the crash is insane. I take one pill in the morning when I wake up and at noon I crash so I take my second dose- which is great, until 7pm. Crash again! I am a Mom of 4 where there are days I can't go to bed until 9-10 pm. I also work out around 7pm. I am going to try to get to the work out closer to 6 if I can. Anyways, anyone have any suggestions or if it is different on other meds? It is working as far as giving me the ability to stay awake and not constantly feel as if I am going to fall asleep. This is great because I finally feel like I can stand for a period of time without needing to sit- because I am so tired. Cleaning, painting, taking care of my children etc. has been much easier (and a lot less coffee/pop) throughout the day.
Any thoughts would be great! I honestly wasn't thrilled about going on Ritalin, I've read some stories and it makes me a bit nervous but I am stuck between a rock and a hard place. It would be wonderful if someone could just figure out why I am so exhausted 24/7
