Has anyone else ever heard this?  That Narcoleptics, because of their unique access to dreams and "the other world" were functional memebers of ancient society. They played the role of Shaman, Oracle, Seer, or Prophet.   I did some volunteer work at a psychiatirc hosptial and found an article in some medical journal which seemed to be saying this. The article was not in english but the title of it, according to my poor translation skills, seemed to be suggesting this. I would really like to know if there is more out there about the historical role of the Narcoleptic.

Not here, unless I could have been the acolyte of sheer madness. My dreams are random garbage, kinda like watching robot chicken while doing copious amounts of drugs, I imagine. There's no sense to be made and I rarely remember more than bits or snatches a few hours after waking. Occasionally, one will be so epically bizarre I will force myself to memorize it, but it hast to be a concerted effort. But yea, people always cast ancient and ethnic societies in this mold, but even the Romans in the AD period of their reign would often use dreams of senate members and other prominent persons as a spring board for ideas to legislate.

Can you post the article to google docs account or public dropbox link or even provide a link to the article? Title and author and Journal otherwise would be cool.

Even if it's not in english, I can get translation service. It makes sense.  However because of my personal self image, I prefer to see myself as a wizard of sorts... lol.

Hello, I know I'm late to the convention but I am seeking the connection between narcolepsy and astral projection. There is no doubt in my mind that the two are intrinsically connected, however, western medicine or the society in general can only see into problems so deeply due to ignore the higher faculties governing life itself. This being the spirit realm. If we are to understand how narcolepsy is connected to the "other world" then we have to look back into the philosophies of Ancient societies. Ancient African societies to be specific due to Africa being the origin of all things especially that which deals with the metaphysical or spiritual realms. Has anyone ever thought about what in our genes triggers narcolepsy? I mean aside from the set of reasons western medicine has put together. What does Eastern Holistic Medicine orScience say about Narcolepsy?

If you play "Mario & Luigi: Dream Team" on Nintendo 3DS, Luigi actually plays a very similar role. He is clearly narcoleptic and his ability creates a dream portal for Mario to enter the dream world.

This is all very interesting to me. Since I was a kid I have believed it have some sort of fine-tuned intuition (psychic abilities?) and my family generally agrees. I've experienced what I believe to be paranormal activity in my house & I swear I communicate with animals (not crazy, I swear!) My dreams have always been psychedelic technicolor adventures in Wonderland, not scary but not awesome and sometimes prophetic. I have a degree in anthropology so anytime someone mentions a shaman theory my radar perks up! Gonna go read that article now...

Being able to communicate with animals is an extraordinary gift. I have an acquaintance, Barbara Martin, who does this for a living. My hubby thinks it's crap but I do not.

Here is the whole google search on her abilities...

https://www.google.c...al communicator

She is not narcoleptic.

I have learned over many years to totally trust my gut instinct...I only regret it when I don't listen.

I've got angels and I believe they've protected me through the years...but I am in awe of my "shopping" angel. As long as I say, out loud, what I am looking for, she will find it and it will be on sale.

After losing my Belgian Malinois on Nov 1 of '13, I thought I would never again have such a smart and loving fur kid. She was a truly exceptional dog. But, in April of this year, I kept getting messages in my head to go visit a specific one of the local shelters which is also a vet office. I finally gave in and went. Played with all the dogs and cried. My hubby and his son had gone back out to the car but I wanted to talk with the vet so I lingered behind. Out of the office came a guy with a 3 month old male Belgian Malinois. I lost it and cried even more. I told the vet about Zorra and that pup was so much like her in appearance. She said she knew the mother and would call to see if any female pups were left. At 5 in the afternoon, the owner of the mother called...she had ONE female left and she was born on Dec. 26 of '13. Zorra was also the last female left and her birthday was Dec. 21 (2005). In both cases, the owners had intended to keep those pups. Too many coincidences for me not to believe that this was meant to be.

She's mine...she's smart and she's a bottomless pit of love...Cora...short for Corazon (heart).

I listened to my inner voice and I believe.

I don't remember my dreams well unless I'm keeping a dream journal, which I really need to get into the habit of doing again. I've had some whoppers, and they're so much fun when I remember them and can flesh them out to tell a story. I've had some weird coincidences (like dreaming I found money, only to find money the next day) but that's all they are, coincidences.

As far as communicating with animals - it's simple, really, if you know animals. I don't claim to be able to "talk" to them (although I do speak to them, out loud, all the time...you should hear the conversation I have with some of my animals in the mornings lol...and at times I answer back for them, the barn owl swears like a sailor), but I can read them pretty well and generally know how to handle them according to their needs, and can pick up on when they're not feeling as well as they ought. I'm a zookeeper, it's rather important to the trade.
