Sleep Study Questions For Females - Help! It's Tomorrow

6 posts in this topic

I have kind of a funny question. I'm what you would call "busty." I don't have double Ds, but I'm also not the kind of woman you'll ever catch without a bra (at least not in public). I'm trying to figure out what to wear to my sleep study. I normally sleep in a tank top. I know the sleep specialists are medical professionals, but I'm not comfortable being in just a tank top around strangers. I have slept in a bra before, but I would like to be as comfortable as possible during this test to ensure that I sleep. I could try a tee shirt, but I tend to get hot at night. Plus I don't know if the shirt will interfere with them connecting the wires.

Right now, I'm kind of leaning towards a sports bra. But I'm in the process of losing weight. (Down 16 pounds, but I have over 20 more to go.) And I don't know if showing my belly really makes me that comfortable either. Now a tank top/sports bra combo would probably be perfect, but I don't have one of those. Maybe I'll stop by Walmart tomorrow.

Any thoughts?

Oh...One other question (I knew there were two). I normally wear my hair in a ponytail, even when I sleep. Will that be an issue, or will they make me take it down? That isn't a huge issue...I'm just curious.

I didn't wear a bra during mine because I'm wasn't sure they would let me. They put ECG leads on and bras of any kind tend to interfere with the wires also the papers they gave me said to wear loose unrestrictive clothing. I just bought a comfortable sleeveless, shorter nightgown and wore that. As for the hair after they attached the leads to my head they put it in a pony tail to keep my hair from moving too much and causing interference so I didn't have to worry about that.

Thanks! I found a top that I think will work. It's a tank, but it offers some support. (Plus it's black so it isn't see-through like some of my others.)

My hair is up right now and if they want me to take it down, that's fine. I wish the study started soon because I'm ready to fall asleep right now. LOL

I wore a tank that had a built in bra... Plus you can make it really cold in the room if you want!

Looks like I'm too late to be of help for tonight, but I totally understand what you mean! I wore a light support sports bra underneath my PJ top to my study. I actually have been on the lookout for some time for a stretchy "leisure" bra (i.e., something way more comfy than a sports bra) that I can wear to sleep in when I stay with relatives or friends while traveling. Maybe that's odd, but I sure feel more comfortable when the friend I'm staying with's roommate's boyfriend runs into me in the hall when I'm on my way to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Anyway, I finally found one that I really like, so I thought I'd share: http://www.herroom.com/rhonda-shear-9708-ahh-cutie-racerback-bra.shtml# It's super comfy, reasonably priced, and available in tons of sizes. I would definitely not wear this out of my house, but it's comfy for relaxing around the house on a Saturday and if I have to open the door for the mailman or something, I don't feel indecent.

Hope the sleep study went well!
