Just wanted to let you know that Conference Registration is now available online on the conference page Kathleen linked to above. The deadline date for the Anniversary Discount Rate has been extended to July 15,2011. It was originally July 1 to get the $199.00 discounted rate.

Hope to see you there!

Jackie...the session information won't be ready until closer to the conference (it's still in the planning process). I am part of the conference planning committee and can tell you that this year there will be major focus on support...not only for the person with N but also their spouse/parent/family/friend that may attend with them. I don't feel comfortable saying exactly what these sessions will be yet, but think along the lines of: Parenting a PWN, N and pregnancy, daily living discussions, spouses of PWN,and many many more. If you have any suggestions of ideas for a breakout session, post them here and I'll take them to the group for consideration!

Last I heard....we had 170 signed up and the conference is still 2 1/2 months away....looks like we may have more than last years 260 if the trend continues.

It looks like a few more details have been added to the schedule page. Thank you, thank you, thank you....for having the hospitality suite open so early, hours before registration, on Thursday for early arrivals. My flight arrives a little early for my normal tastes (gonna be groggy, but was soooo much cheaper!) I do enjoy gambling, so was planning on just roaming around until check in. It's such a relief to know that there will be a place to go if I feel a drowsy spell coming on Posted Image

This will be my first conference. When I was younger, I traveled extensively -- and a 12 hour flight didn't even make me blink. But I haven't flown in about 10 years, long before my symptoms started to show. I didnt miss it much, but then the idea of attending really inspired me. At first, I was really excited to be attending alone (the thought of not answering to anyone else's idea of a relaxing vacation seemed so appealing!.) But then I started having some unexpected anxiety about little things (like where to go if sleepy but my room is not ready yet.)

But as I learn about more about the conference details, the anxiety has gotten better. It's already comforting to know that someone has already thought of a few of these "little" things -- to make the trip more comfortable for me Posted Image (I didn't even have to ask for these extras, or attempt an awkward explaination as to why, whether or not i used it on Thursday afternoon, just knowing that the room is there as an option, well.....it makes me feel much more at ease.)

Thank you all!

Hi NightOwl....thank you for your kind words...as a member of the Conference Planning Committee, you made my day. I look forward to meeting you in the Hospitality Suite on Thursday (it's my baby...lol) and I hope that your conference weekend is all that you hope for and more!

The anxiety of the conference is starting to build up in me.... Partly because the conference starts a day earlier, and I'm wishing I had booked my travel to account for that.

I hope somebody will leak me a schedule again, so I can fill my calendar with plans....though maybe this year I can wing it closer to the sessions... Hopefully not being a first timer, somebody will notice if I'm sitting/standing off to the side alone again and make me....

Plus the anxiety of flying is building up in me too....having not flown since last Thanksgiving...I'm worried that I'm going to get something wrong, and ruin my trip. Or that I now don't arrive in Las Vegas until 4:10pm.... I don't know what the point of booking travel so far in advance is when the airline is going to shift my schedule around to shorten my trip every time.

Still...really looking forward to this....

Oh yeah...for some reason I thought there was only a 1 hour difference between me and the conference.....

Wonder if I'll start packing before, during, or after this weekend....

The Dreamer.

Can't believe how "tricky" travel plans are these days...so many little details that I never had to consider before my symptoms became so pronounced!

Lorrie-

Thanks for the reply. Now that I have a specific task I wish to accomplish (stopping by and thanking you in person) I'll be even more motivated to make it to the suite in one piece. Posted Image

Dreamer-

Hey, I think you are a step or two ahead of me....I'm still thinking about when I'll find an hour to sit down and plan on when to plan my packing, lol. Posted Image Posted Image

Well, I didn't start packing this weekend....though I am shopping around for clothing, because I don't seem to fit into last year's fall wardrobe this fall....(this problem started a few years ago...always in the fall. Usually I make the discovery when its much later that I should ... bordering on too cold to still be wearing shorts and sandals. I had stopped with idea of dressing less casual when fall classes start up again sometime before I started having the problem of finding that my other clothing changed size during the summer....)

Not really that worried about how I'm dressed at the conference though...but going to want pants for the flight, I wore shorts once...burr... don't want to do that again.

I wonder what kind of dinner arranging will happen Thursday night? Will there be signups/meetups for getting some after the reception?

The Dreamer.

Hi Dreamer....yes there will be dinner signups again this year....for every night including Sunday if you are staying over. They'll be in the Hospitality Suite I believe.

Har! I forgot to sign off last week and find that I am still here! But at least I can contribute right now without going through all that business about my ever-continuing incorrect user name and incorrect dangfool dang password. BTW I haven't changed that password in fifty years!

Lorrie said, "...yes there will be dinner signups again this year..."

Now that is good! We conference attenders had to start our own get-togethers way back in 2002 when we invented the Nlist (endless) suppers! Took the NarNetter's some years to see that an evening supper gathering was a good idea! I think prior to that, NarNet used to organize a Saturday night supper for Everybody in the whole conference but that proved, I'm sure, way too massive and 'spensive. Methinks we will continue to have the Nlist supper on Saturday but I think I see some conflicts coming with that circus thing (and TAS adopted the supper idea) and the fact that the Nlist is dead (Long Live the Nlist!). The Nlist supper may become a treasured old tradition, sparsely populated only by us oldtimers that still remember what it was. Plus we will create even more confusion about what is the significance of the little blue buttons.

Be sure to make it clear where the supper sign-ups are to be found! What was that, the Hospitality Suite? But I bet the supper sign-ups will get started Thursday, right in front of Joyce at the passing-out-of-the-nametags table. Will Joyce be given enough time to come out and play this year? Or the Blond Kid? Probably not. You have to show appreciation for those NarNetter's, remember they got narkle-upsy and it ain't easy to do all that stuff! Once you get a chance to rest, that's all you can do.

I see that the breakfast buffet starts at 7:30. Any idea when it ENDS? Some of us are night owls and won't make the 9:00 sessions...

My first reaction was OMG, it's available for only one hour? In the middle of the night? But then I think, well actually it seems I wake up about seventy two times every night anyway, might as well get up and go for the buffet. Never mind that it takes me well into the evening to begin to feel halfway human. If memory serves, the meals at Las Vegas are lavish! It may be worth the effort just to stagger down there and LOOK at it.

And I bet we are allowed to sit and wag our jaws for a longish time afterwards. I always have the best time at the meals, being at comfort amongst such strange, but somehow easy to know and enjoy, people. We've been to approx. eight conferences and I have come to mostly ignore all the talks and scheduled stuff. Been there... done that. It is more fun to rattle around in the halls and see who/what I encounter. Overhear some of the dangedest stories. See some people laughing so hard you have to rush over and help hold them up!

Heh heh, I enjoy these things.
