Episcopal here. I fall asleep during post-communion music all the time. And I'm in the choir. I'm glad I don't kneel! I haven't tanked while singing, but I've come pretty close. I realized I was singing nonsense syllables once before I excused myself. Plus dropping music, books, folders, etc.

Best thing to do is cross yourself and play it off. Handy for work, too. If you nod off and think someone saw you, say "Amen," just loudly enough to be heard and go back to work. :-D

I may be baptist, but I can totally relate! The "amen" thing is pure genius! My last few years of high school I couldn't stay awake in Sunday school for the life of me, even though it was really interesting. I was constantly in trouble.. I got in contacts with my Sunday school teacher again recently, and when I told him I had been diagnosed with N, he just busted up laughing and said he should have believed me when I swore I was going to bed at a decent hour Saturday night!

I've fallen asleep during sex, totally embarrassing..

I've woken up to doing it.  Damned automatic behavior.

I fell asleep on a 7x12' pitch roof that I was helping my dad shingle. Luckily I was straddled on the top ridge.
Also, during a hearing test at work - somehow I passed with flying colors.

Probably my craziest place I fell asleep was when I got so sleep deprived in boot camp that I'd fall asleep during marching drills.  I'd start to stumble and the guy behind me would kick my feet to wake me up.

Some unusual ones (for "normal" people anyway; probably old hat for most of the people here) :

I've gone to the bathroom at work to nap on the toilet.  I've also done the chin-propped-up-on-the-fist pose at my desk at work.

Train ride home from work is usually nap time.

I dozed off during my MRI a couple weeks ago.

I fall asleep during parties at friends houses.

I used to fall asleep at baseball games that my step-dad would take me to when I was a kid.

I remember being about 10 years old and it was winter. I was all bundled up in a one piece snow suit with boots, gloves and a hat. It was snowing. I was down in some woods that are just off from our yard. I don't remember what I was doing exactly, lol. But I laid down in a small clearing and was staring at the sky. I remember watching the snowflakes falling down and I was just thinking about how pretty it was. I must have dozed off, laying in the middle of the woods, in the middle of winter! Because the next thing I remember is waking up, and thinking hmm, I wonder how long I was sleeping? I should probably go back in the house now!!

LOL! I think I even remember some sleep paralysis and HH from that experience. But It was just so nonchalant at the time. Like, wow I guess I've been down here awhile, should probably get back to the house now!

I recently went to a small get together with some friends, there was probably 6 of us there. I had brought my ipad mini because I was really engrossed in a book on it. I was all ready super tired. So my boyfriend and I went in and we chatted a bit with people and then I just went and sat on the couch that was off a bit from everyone else, who were primarily in the kitchen area talking. And I was reading, but I fell asleep. And I wasn't sleeping very long but my boyfriend was like "what are you doing?" and I was like "I'm just over here. I'll get up in a minute" haha. But yeah that wasn't really a weird place just an awkward situation. But jeeze sometimes my friends want me to come do these get togethers, and it's usually after a long day of work and I'm just omg what do you want from me!? I need sleep. So sometimes I'll cancel and other times I'll go and end up taking a 15 minute nap during our get together haha.

This sounds familiar. When I was a kid, had an army surplus winter parka. It was so long that it reached down to my knees. Several times I would snuggle into a snow bank, pull my arms and legs up into the parka, and pull fold the hood over my face. I would then enjoy wonderful naps in the great outdoors. I really miss that parka.
As far as social gatherings go, my friends and family have always been understanding of my brief naps. It has only been recently that it occurred to me that this might be considered odd to some people.

On a tree.. we were playing hide n' seek.  I overslept the game.. I hate waiting for people to find me!

Oh and I fell asleep getting my first tattoo on my neck.. I was talking halfway.. and gone. I thought that was really weird. I'm sure the artist might have thought so too.

This thread is great. Love the stories. I can relate to write a few. I have a good one for this. Had to be about 10. I was terrified of this haunted house I was drug into when an employee saw me and walked with me. Dressed as he good witch from the wizard of oz. put her arm around me, I dug my face in her side, and out I went. Slept the whole way through... Somehow in hell she had no idea until we got to the end. I managed to walk with her the whole time, narced out.

On a roller coaster, at a register at work, and on a cliff face while repelling.

I actually dozed off at dinner last night.  Wife made the most amazing Mongolian beef (one of my favs) and I fell asleep for a moment talking over dinner with the kids.

In the middle of taking someone's order when I used to work at a Panera and while driving a motorized picker at work. I'm sure there are others too lol.

So, I once fell asleep during an IMax laser show with bright lights flashing and very loud Pink Floyd music playing. Actually I think it was in a planetarium because the seats were reclined almost all the way down. It was really quite comfy.

Before diagnosed I use to race motocross, which I think the concussions actually attributed to this condition. I use to fall asleep in a lawn chair in 100 degree heat next to the starting line where there would be 42 motorcycles with the throttles hung wide open. And I would pass out there despite the heat and the insane amount of sound. Parents always just thought it was funny that I could be that "tired"

I went on a senior trip to NY. Fell asleep everywhere.  malls, museums, park benches...Statue of Liberty was probably the most interesting.

While I was in the Navy I was a part of the loading team for the Forward 5" Gun(here's a video of us firing ours: https://www.youtube....h?v=xybl1qkaOCA) and in between firing excercises I was sleeping on top of the projectiles that were waiting to be placed into the loader.

My son is the PWN. The high school had an earthquake drill, all the students were to crawl under a desk area (enclosed on three sides kind). He promptly fell asleep, and stayed there quite comfy until the next period, at which time another student came in, then hollored "Hey teacher - there's a kid asleep under my desk!" Yeah, he was a bit embarrassed.

All the usual places - classes, meetings, public transport, parties, etc. Also getting most of my tattoos (laying down with that buzzing noise was oddly soothing!), at concerts, at a house party with the music blaring, at concerts (was actually dozing standing up for the last few bands at a festival a few years ago), driving over the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Oh and at an outdoor rave in Brighton a few years ago - I just lay down and had a nap. My poor partner had to explain to various police officers that I wasn't drunk or overdosing on drugs, just "a sleepy person" haha
