Hello all,

This is my first time posting to this site and in fact I have not been in touch on a sleep disorder forum for a number of years. I was disgnosed with Narcolepsy about 8 years ago initially in Toronto and then reconfirmed when I moved to Ottawa about 4 years ago at the Ottawa Hospital seeing Dr. Dales. Though a very nice doctor, I think I was one of the only or at least few patients that had narcolepsy, all others were sleep apnea. A year went by between visits and I have now found that I need to start the process over due to the length of time between visits. ( I was never warned of such) I need to let my family doctor know who I would like a referral for.
I am hoping to find a doctor that specialises in more neurology (Narcolepsy) then respirology (apnea). Ideally a doctor that is either younger or current on some of the other trends we are seeing as options for staying awake , like red bull etc.

Have your doctor refer you to a Dr. Ghanan ?? at the sleep clinic in the Riverside Hospital. A wonderful doctor who is empathetic and really knows his stuff. Good luck.

I am also wondering if anyone has found a doctor in the Ottawa area to treat their Narcolepsy. I am new to the city and hoping to find a family doctor that has some experience in this area.
