we're all upset about xyrem's price increase, but i'm curious if anyone saw this from last year about provigil.
Xyrem went from $1181 in May 08 to $2329 per month on Oct 1 - a 97% increase. It was good to hear that Provigil will go generic in a little over a year. There's no chance Xyrem will ever go generic. Whether you're covered under your insurance or not, you or you employer is still paying for it in your premiums. This is a problem with co-pays of $10 etc. for prescriptions. The customer thinks that's all it costs but if the insurance company has to pay the pharmaceutical company over $2K you know they're going to recoup that through the premiums. You pay one way or the other.
Is the Prescription Access group fighting on behalf of Xyrem users? I couldn't find anything on their site.
