I don't think that having your sleep study at your irregular time to sleep would make a difference physiologically or on the EEG. It may be that you'll have difficulty falling asleep at first b/c you're used to be up, but eventually most fall asleep and sleep is sleep. They only need to see a few hours to get a read.
Also, are you sure that the doc didn't say Stage 5 sleep as opposed to Level 5 sleep? B/c stage 5 sleep in indicative of REM sleep and narcolepsy is a REM sleep disorder. That may make more sense if you think about it.

Thanks for sharing what happened in all of your studies. It sounds like they all follow pretty much the same format. I'm sure I'll be able to fall asleep when I get there at least. I normally do wake up for an hr or two around 6:00 at night, and then fall back asleep for a few more hours on my days off. The MSLT is in the morning though, and I rarely take naps after so much sleep even though I'll still be tired. We'll see though, I'm thinking that they probably won't let me go and get a cigarette each time the wake me up, or give me coffee, so yeah I'll probably keep passing out. I wake up with the shakes real bad though, no coffee or cigarettes would suck lol Anyways it should go fine, I'm just a worry wart.
