I wake constantly during the night. Last week, I was asleep, had a graphic dream and woke up again in exactly 20 minutes. I know it was that long, because I felt like I'd been asleep for ages, but the clock told a different story. Most nights, I'll dream straight away and be awake again in under an hour, then I'll go for an hour or two of waking every 20 minutes or so, then back to 45-60 minutes. That pretty much sums up my every night. If I miss my 'sleep window' getting to bed, or try to go to sleep inbetween sleep windows, I'll be awake for most of the night with my brain going a million miles an hour, not able to shut it off.
Last night, I was awake at 12.03, then 12.23, then another few times before I woke up. I read a really good book called Tired of Being Tired, about sleep cycles, when to go to sleep, and what not to do during the night (like clock watch). So I tend not to look at the clock, coz then I tend to stress more about the fact that I'm awake and only have x more hours before I have to get up....making me less able to sleep.
Funnily enough, I've always joked that if I could just sleep between 6am and 9am, I'd be fine. For some reason, I sleep really well during those hours and feel good afterwards. Unfortunately, it's not possible with a full time job.
When I wasn't on meds, I was going through all that at night and waking with bad headaches. A few years ago, I was on Endep to help me sleep at night, a beta blocker for my heart when I needed it, and Dex. Uppers and downers all at once. Yeah, not the best...so I stopped them all. I should have stayed on the Dex, but that's another story (and I'm back on it now yay!).
I've gone back on Endep 25mg at night, too. It has it's downside, but, after about a month, it seems to be working at least a little.
I feel tired at bedtime and my brain slows down.
I feel like I will sleep well when my head hits the pillow.
I don't get the headaches in the morning - they've pretty much gone.
I don't get the voilent graphic dreams or think someone's in my room.
The dreams I am having seem more 'normal' - whatever that is - and I'm dreaming less (which means it's starting to do its job).
I have to take it early at night (before 9pm), so I don't get the 'hangover' feeling in the morning.
It is an effort to get out of bed in the morning - my body feels like lead.
Dry mouth (but I get that with the Dex anyway)
I still wake often.
It makes me absolutely stupid between when I take it and when I go to sleep, like my brain shuts off - it's like being drunk and you can't move the way you want to, or think to put sentences together properly. It amuses my friends, but also means I can't take it if I want to go out anywhere at night.
I don't remember having those symptoms the last time I was taking Endep, but I didn't take it religiously like I do now.
